Our tiling insurance is designed for tilers and tiling businesses. It combines a range of cover options that can help support your business finances if an insured event results in a claim.
Tiling insurance explained
No two tiling jobs are exactly the same. One day you could be working in a customer's bathroom, the next on a commercial refurbishment or large-scale development. Moving materials, using specialist cutting equipment and working around customers, contractors and other trades can all create risks that may affect your business.
Our tiling insurance combines different types of cover that can help protect your business against unforeseen costs if an insured event leads to a claim.
Public liability insurance
Public liability insurance may be a useful type of cover that can help protect against certain everyday risks you face as a tiler. It can provide protection if a third party claims they have suffered injury or property damage because of your work.
Examples may include:
-
A customer tripping over tools or materials
-
A visitor suffering an injury within a work area
-
Equipment accidentally damaging nearby property
-
Claims arising from day-to-day tiling activities
Public liability insurance is available across all our tiling insurance packages, with cover available up to £5 million.
Employers’ liability insurance
If you employ staff, employers' liability insurance may be required by law in certain circumstances. It can provide protection if an employee suffers an injury or illness connected to their work and brings a claim against the business.
Employers' liability insurance is available across all our tilers insurance packages and can be added where required, with cover available up to £10 million.
Professional indemnity insurance
If a customer alleges your professional advice, recommendations or specifications caused them financial loss, professional indemnity insurance can provide protection.
We include professional indemnity cover within our Classic and Plus policies.
Cover is available up to £100,000.
Tools cover
Some tilers rely on specialist tools every day, from tile cutters and mixing equipment to measuring tools and power tools.
Our tools cover can apply to handheld powered and non-powered portable tools, as well as laptops and tablets used for business purposes, subject to policy terms and conditions.
Tools cover starts at £1,000 and can be increased up to £15,000.
Temporary total disablement benefit
Available within our Plus policies, Temporary Total Disablement Benefit can provide up to £600 per week if an insured person is unable to work due to a covered injury, subject to policy terms and conditions.
Why tilers need insurance
Tilers often work in customers' homes, commercial properties and active construction environments where materials, tools and people are moving around at the same time.
-
Accidents can happen without warning.
-
A visitor could trip over equipment.
-
Tools could be stolen from a vehicle between jobs.
-
A customer could claim your work caused them financial loss.
Our tiler insurance can help protect your business against unforeseen costs if an insured event results in a claim. Depending on the cover selected, it can also include protection for employees, tools, professional advice and loss of income following certain injuries.
Whether you specialise in wall tiling, floor tiling, bathroom installations or commercial projects, having the right cover in place can help keep your business moving.

Common risks faced by tilers
Working with specialist materials, cutting equipment and unfinished work areas can create a variety of risks.
Here are some examples where tiling insurance may provide protection:
1. A customer trips over equipment
Tile cutters, extension leads and materials can create temporary hazards while work is underway.
If a customer or member of the public suffers an injury, public liability insurance may provide protection against claims involving third-party injury.
2. Damage to surrounding property
Tiling work can often take place in occupied homes and commercial premises.
If tools, materials or equipment accidentally damage nearby third-party property, public liability insurance may provide protection against claims for property damage.
3. Theft of tiling tools
Professional tilers often transport valuable equipment between jobs.
Tools cover can help support replacement costs if insured tools or equipment are stolen from a locked vehicle, subject to policy terms and conditions.
4. An employee suffers an injury
If you employ staff, employers' liability insurance may provide protection if an employee suffers an injury and brings a claim against the business.
Up to £10 million of employers' liability cover is available to add across our tiling insurance packages.
5. A customer alleges financial loss
A customer may claim your advice, recommendations or services caused them financial loss.
Up to £100,000 of Third Party Financial Loss cover is included across our tiling insurance packages.
