Personal accident policies exist to protect people from accidents (and sickness if you purchase this).
A claim will be paid when the policy terms are satisfied – which usually means when the customer suffers an accident (or sickness) and is unable to work.
Personal accident offers you peace of mind by providing a weekly benefit if you’re involved in a serious injury due to an accident or illness. You’ll get the reassurance that you’ve got a measure of financial protection.
You’ll be covered for a full year, except the first 14 days, after being signed off by the doctor.
There is a 14 day deferment period. This means you won’t get a payment for the first 14 days after being signed off by the doctor.
No – you don’t require a medical to take out this cover.
It depends on the type of policy you buy.
For both personal accident (on its own) and personal accident and sickness (combined), you’re eligible for between £400 – £600 a week, depending on the policy you buy.
Yes – for personal accident its 80. For sickness, it’s 65.
