Q. What does Van insurance cover?

A. A comprehensive policy will cover damage to you and your vehicle, damage to third parties, third party vehicles and third party property, fire and theft.

Q. Is Van insurance required by the law?

A. You’re only required by law to have Third Party, Fire & Theft level Van insurance. You’re not required to have comprehensive cover.

Q. What is the difference between a Courtesy vehicle and a Replacement vehicle?

A. If your van is off the road following an accident that is NOT Your Fault, then subject to circumstances, we may be able to arrange:

  • A replacement van suitable to your needs to keep you mobile.
  • Funding for repairs to your van which means you will not have to pay your policy excess and your claims record should not be affected.

As you are not at fault for the accident, the costs of these services will be recovered from the fault party’s insurer. If you don’t need a replacement van and you make arrangements for repairs following a fault accident to be completed by a BDElite Approved Repairer, we guarantee the Approved Repairer will provide you with a 1.2L small manual hatchback courtesy car.

Q. What is 24/7 Tools insurance?

A. 24/7 Tools insurance is an optional extra you can add to your Van insurance policy. The Tools add-on will cover you 24 hours a day for tools stolen from your van as long as there is forced entry and proof of purchase

Q. I don't use my van for commercial purposes, can I still insure it through you?

A. Yes, if your van is for private use we could still insure it for you by introducing you to our sister company Kerry London Ltd.

Q. What types of commercial vehicles are covered by your Van insurance?

A. We can provide cover for small vans, transits and vehicles weighing no more than 3.5 tonnes.

Q. Do you offer a No Claim Discount on Van insurance?

A. Yes we can offer up to 70% No Claim Discount on commercial policies. You will need to provide proof of no claims.

Q. Do you insure vans registered in Northern Ireland?

A. Unfortunately no, if your van is registered to Northern Ireland we can’t insure it.

Q. Do you insure vans registered in the Channel Islands?

A. Yes, if your van is registered in the Channel Islands we could still insure it.

Q. How can I pay for my policy?

A. We currently offer two ways of paying for your Commercial Vehicle policy. You can either pay in full with a credit or debit card in a single instalment, or via instalments on Direct Debit. If you choose to pay via Direct Debit, we also collect a 15% deposit against a debit or credit card, and the balance is payable over 10 monthly payments. Please note that Trade Direct acts a credit broker and not a lender.

Q. Can I pay by debit/ credit card?

A. Yes. We accept payments made using major credit and debit cards. We don’t apply a charge for the use of debit cards, however if you choose to pay with a credit card, we apply a fee. Please see the Fees we Charge page.

Q. Can I pay by instalments?

A. Yes. You have the option of paying for your van insurance in instalments via Direct Debit. When you purchase, we collect a 15% deposit against a credit or debit card, and the balance is collected via 10 monthly payments. We work exclusively with a third-party who provides credit. Please see our Credit Example and Information for further details. Trade Direct Insurance is a credit broker, not a lender.

Q. How do I get my documents?

A. When you buy a Van Insurance policy through our website, your documents will be dispatched to you the next business day via the post. We do not email policy documents directly from the website.

A. When you purchase a Van Insurance policy from Trade Direct Insurance via our website, your documents will be dispatched to you the next business day via the post. We do not email policy documents directly from the website.

A. Claims can be worrying, and at Trade Direct we’re passionate about helping our customers. You’re welcome to contact us, and we’ll help in any way we can, however claims processing is handled by the insurer – not us
